
The Atto Plasma Cleaner is a low-pressure “laboratory-class” plasma system designed for versatile surface treatment, ideal for research, development, and small-series production. Thanks to its 10.5 L borosilicate glass vacuum chamber, Atto accommodates a range of small to medium-sized components for processes such as plasma cleaning, surface activation, bonding preparation, coating, and etching, making it well suited for applications in medical engineering, plastics and textile technology, solar technology, and analytical sample preparation (e.g., for SEM / TEM). The device offers dual-generator operation (40 kHz up to 200 W or 13.56 MHz up to 300 W), with the electrode located outside the vacuum chamber to ensure reproducible plasma ignition and uniform treatment. Gas supply is controlled by standard needle valves. In our laboratory, we employ the Atto system primarily for surface activation of polymeric materials and composite samples. This plasma treatment enhances surface wettability and adhesion, a critical step before subsequent coating, bonding, or functionalization.
